So, I'll be moving back to San Francisco soon and as a result, I will not be able to shoot as many shows as I'd like. Sad, I know. But this is making me want to change things up a bit. I'm going to start doing "My Favorite Things" blogs and galleries. This will start tonight! So stay tuned for the fun change up! :)

I'm officially confirmed to shoot Rockin Roots this weekend down in Bakersfield for Buzznet! It's going to be such a blast! Expect pictures of Murder My Hero, Of Mice & Men, Pierce the Veil, Falling in Reverse, and much more. I'm going to be running from stage to stage to shoot as many bands as possible.

Also, I got the e-mail confirming that I'll be able to volunteer for the Canvas Foundation at the Irvine Warped Tour date. Super stoked for that! It's going to be so much fun.

AAU 2012 Spring Show

AmandaR Photo
AmandaR Photo May 22, 2012

So, my school does a spring show every year. Students enter their work and hope and pray that they make it in. This year was my second time entering. There were nearly 2,000 entries and only 196 chosen. I am one of them! Three of my cupcake photos, entered as a triptych, were picked to be displayed at the Cannery Building on Embarcaderro in San Francisco. This is really the first time I've ever had anything publicly displayed. I mean, my work was in the local fair for the last two years, but they didn't understand most of the work anyways. So, tomorrow morning my family, my boyfriend and I are headed back to SF to go to the gallery opening tomorrow night! It's open through August 11th. It's going to be crazy! This might bring on so many opportunities. There are people from all over the industry who go to the opening and some students have gotten job and internship offers. Let's hope for the best!

Hey guys, so I just finished my second year at art school today! Woo Hoo! I'm going to start posting my work from the last two years tomorrow, the stuff that I'm still proud of at least. I've been all over the board trying to figure out what I want to do, but I think my style has started to develop with this last project that I worked on.

I'm excited to share everything with you guy and I hope you love it!

Lady Gaga Refused Concert Permit For Being A 'Satan Worshipper'

Indonesian police have refused to issue a concert permit for Lady Gaga's concert planned for the 3rd June in Jakarta.

The Islamic Defenders’ Front threatened to block the show accusing her of promoting Satan worship and homosexuality. A national police spokesman stated that “we made the decision after considering objections from various Muslim groups who deem that Lady Gaga’s stage act is not compatible with our culture.”

The head of the Islamic Defenders’ Front, Rizieq Syihab, told local media that Lady Gaga worshipped the devil and was quoted saying “if Lady Gaga goes ahead with her concert in Indonesia, I will mobilize Muslims in Jakarta to disband it.” They even threatened to intercept the singer at the airport and stop her getting off the plane.

A massive 30,000 tickets have been sold for the show and if it does end up officially cancelled, there will be a huge number of angry 'Little Monsters'.

The Indonesian Lady Gaga fans' Twitter page has been criticising the police and made the point (in English) that “somehow the police person’s statement is irrational. They don’t descriptively point which people who object her concert here.”

In my opinion, fans shouldn't be told who they get to see in concert and who they don't. Those that have a problem with Lady Gaga don't have to see the show, plain and simple. But they shouldn't take the show away from the fans.

Do you agree with the police or do you think they are being unfair?

'The Avengers' Beats The All-Time Opening-Weekend Record!

The Avengers has beat the opening weekend record! Yes, you heard right! You know what that means right? It beat previous record-holder Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2. What a shocker (to many people)! But I honestly kind of saw it coming. The Avengers had a lot of hype built around it and it definitely lived up. I saw it yesterday, and it was truly amazing. Even though I had to go to three theaters before I found one that wasn't sold out and then had to wait a long time in line, it was so worth it. Who wouldn't want to see all the Marvels fighting together? That's right, no one.

The film grossed about $200.3 million in its Friday-Sunday box-office debut. Now imagine how much it will make today (Sunday). This is the first movie to break the $200 million record in three days.

The movie even earned $15 million just at IMAX theaters alone! After over a week in release worldwide, The Avengers has grossed approximately $614.8 million.

Here is the all-time top ten opening weekend records as it is now:

  1. The Avengers, $200.3 million
  2. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2, $169.2 million
  3. The Dark Knight, $158.4 million
  4. The Hunger Games, $152.5 million
  5. Spider-Man 3, $151.1 million
  6. The Twilight Saga: New Moon, $142.8 million
  7. The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn—Part 1, $138.1 million
  8. Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest, $135.6 million
  9. Iron Man 2, $128.1 million
  10. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1, $125 million

Have you seen The Avengers yet? Do you think the movie was better than Harry Potter and that it deserved to beat its record?
